成电讲堂

　　6月14日下午，IEEE Fellow、美国密西西比州立大学教授James Edwin Fowler做客学者论坛，为师生带来题为“Reconstruction and Analysis of Hyperspectral Imagery Using Random Projections”的学术讲座，分享了他在高光谱图像处理上的最新研究成果。IEEE Fellow、电子工程学院朱策教授主持本次活动。

　　James Edwin Fowler首先介绍了何为高光谱图像，它是指光谱分辨率在一定范围的高光谱图像，主要应用于遥感、医学、农学等领域。他表示，随着高光谱图像的空间与分辨率不断的增长，高光谱图像的数据成倍增加，这给图像的存储和传输带来过重的负担，也给图像的有效处理带来困难，这就需要对图像进行降维处理。然而，传统的降维算法依赖数据，计算成本高昂，因此对于许多资源受限的机载或卫星传感器平台来说都是无法承受的。针对于此问题，James Edwin Fowler提出基于随机投影的高光谱图像处理技术，此种方法能在数据获取的同时实现降维，使得传感器投影到随机选择的低维子空间中，大大降低处理数据量。通过考虑压缩传感以及基于主成分的替代方法，解决了随机投影重建的问题。James Edwin Fowler还分析了此种方法对高光谱图像分析能力的影响，特别是在异常检测与分类领域的应用，发现即使在低维度子空间中，高光谱图像在异常检测和分类的应用仍然有效。

　　在交流环节，James Edwin Fowler耐心地解答师生的疑问，并和师生讨论了该技术后续的研究方向。整场分享让师生们受益匪浅，大家认为很好地开拓了大家的视野，拓展了学术思维，有助于我校师生更好地开展相关领域的研究。

　　James E. Fowler received the B.S. degree in computer and information science engineering and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, USA, in 1990, 1992, and 1996, respectively. In 1997, he held a postdoctoral assignment at the Université de Nice-Sophia Antipolis, France, and, in 2004, he was a Visiting Professor at Télécom ParisTech, Paris, France. He is currently Billie J. Ball Professor and Graduate Program Director of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Mississippi State University. Dr. Fowler is the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Signal Processing Letters, and was previously a Senior Area Editor for IEEE Transactions on Image Processing and an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Computational Imaging, IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, and IEEE Signal Processing Letters. He is an Associate Editor for the EURASIP Journal on Image and Video Processing. He was a general co-chair of the 2014 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, Paris, France. He is a Fellow of the IEEE.
