(Ion Channel Genes and Electrical Signals in Animals)》的精彩报告,报告由魏彦玉教授主持。

About the speaker: Dr. Ren is a full professor with tenure in the Department of Biology, University of Pennsylvania. He graduated with a B.S. in Electronics from Sichuan University, an M.S. in Underwater Acoustics from the Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He did his postdoctoral training in the Howard Hughes Institute of Medicine, Childrens’ Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School. His research focus on how cells generate electrical signals used to control physiological functions. His group has discovered and pioneered the studies of several families of ion channel proteins that are important for mammalian fertilization, metabolism, physical endurance and brain function. He has published extensively in top journals including Science, Nature, Cell and Neurons. His seminar will focus on ion channel genes important for brain function and associated genetic variations that cause severe intellectual disability.
