五、主讲内容:
Electrical contact is important for nearly all types of electronics at its interface composed of 2 dissimilar materials that the current flows through the microscopic asperities at the interface. Recent development of two-dimensional (2D) materials-based electronics relies on good electrical contacts with low contact resistance between metal-metal and metal-semiconductor interfaces, encompassing both 2D and bulk materials. Such contact resistance is strongly dependent on the type of charge transport at the interface, barrier at the interface, materials of the electrodes and geometrical configuration, which will be discussed. It is important to note that the traditional charge inject and contact resistance models derived decades ago for 3D bulk materials (or bulk electronics) are no longer valid. In this talk, we will present some recent charge injection models to account for 2D materials and roughness that are absent from the traditional models. The properties of the electrical contact for different 2D-materials interfaces will be presented. It is possible to have small contact resistance at selected high frequency regime (THz), where the resistance can even lower than the DC contact resistance. This finding, if verified experimentally can be useful for high frequency electronics towards high frequency THz applications for 6G and beyond applications.
六、主讲人简介:
Lay Kee (Ricky) Ang received his BSc degree from the Tsing Hua University (Hsinchu), Taiwan in 1994, and his MSc and PhD degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA in 1996 and 1999, respectively. He is currently the Associate Provost (International Relations), Ng Teng Fong Chair Professor, and Professor of Science, Mathematics and Technology in the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). Before joining SUTD, he was a professor in the Division of Microelectronics, School of EEE, Nanyang Technological University, ;; Singapore (2002-2011), and a LANL director postdoctoral fellow (1999-2001) in the Applied Physics division, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). His current research interests in Applied Physics are in the formulation of basic scaling laws of charge injection, carrier transport, electrical contact, and light-matter interaction for applications in electronics and photonics. In computational modeling, he is currently applying fractional calculus to analyze complicated and disordered systems. His research projects were funded by Singapore (MOE, ASTAR, SUTD) and USA (AFOSR and ONRG). He is a fellow of IEEE and fellow of IOP, IEEE Distinguished Lecturer and Top 2% Scientist in Applied Physics.
