六、内容简介:
Freeform and Structured Surfaces are complex surfaces that possess non-rotational symmetry while different dimensional scales of structured patterns are embedded in large-scale flat or curved substrates. They are widely used in advanced applications such as compound eye lenses for 3D imaging, lobster eye focusing optical systems for X-ray detection, and surfaces with self-cleaning ability and wettability, which are indispensable with specially designed functional multi-scale structured surfaces in order to maximize the performance of products. Due to the geometrical complexity of these surfaces, they have to be fabricated by more than one type of ultra-precision machining technology with high precision in terms of sub-micrometre form accuracy and nanometric surface finishing so as to ensure the functionality of the components. Moreover, many measuring principles and instruments have also been proposed and developed to cover a wide measurement range with respect to specific and varying metrological needs. In this presentation, the state-of-the-art research on ultra-precision machining and measurement of freeform and structured surfaces is discussed. Some of the case studies of applications of freeform and structured surfaces are discussed. The presentation attempts to shed some light on the future development of machining and measurement of freeform and structured surfaces which will help spur the growth in the application and manufacturing of these surfaces.
七、主讲人简介:
Professor Benny C.F. Cheung is the Chair Professor of Ultra-precision Machining and Metrology at the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Currently. he is also the Director of State Key Laboratory of Ultra-precision Machining Technology. He holds various honorary positions in other universities and professional bodies including Adjunct Professorship of Changchun University of Science and Technology, Board Member of the Asian Society for Precision Engineering and Nanotechnology (ASPEN), a Fellow of Prof. Cheung of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP Fellow) and a member of the College of Fellows of the American Society for Precision Engineering (ASPE Fellow). His main research interests include ultra-precision machining precision surface metrology and smart precision manufacturing. Up to present, he has authored and co-authored more than 260 (SCI/SSCI) indexed refereed journal papers. He has received many research prizes and awards including the 2008 ASAIHL-Scopus Young Scientist Awards – First Runner Up Prize in the category of “Engineering and Technology”, Joseph Whitworth Prize 2010 and A M Strickland Prize 2017 by The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), UK, 2017 Winner of the IET Innovation Award – Manufacturing Technology, The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK, BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize 2023 – Advanced Manufacturing, etc.
